Those who read my last story know I drive a Ford Escape. I love it but need to trade it in soon. The transmission 'shudders' a little bit at certain speeds, certain RPMs. I need to sell it before the transmission fails. It's got about 125K, 75K of which I put on it after I bought it used. I'm thinking of replacing it with the slightly larger Ford Edge, but definitely not the Explorer which has a bad reputation. I like Mazda, Hyundai and Honda crossover (small SUV) vehicles, too. It all depends on the year and the model... and price.

How would you like to buy a Ford and you can't opt out. Can't choose to pass on the offer. You better get it. And then 6 months later have to buy another new Ford -- no options to be done. You have to buy a new one every six month and if you don't you'll be labeled an anti-Forder, lose your ability to travel. Uber will not pick you up. Your employer will fire you if you don't buy a new Ford. All other car manufacturers will be banned and anti-science because it's proclaimed that only Ford is green enough for the global agenda and climate change strategy. You'll also be anti-climate change and may not be allowed to get food. You certainly won't be able to get social security if you don't get a Ford. Basically you're a non-person.=
I hope something will click for everyone. It's really no different than my absurd example.

Last month I finally ended my extended ownership of a Lexus LS400 that I bought new in 1999. It served me extremely well for 22 years, 375,000 miles. I changed the timing belt 3 times, and maintained it to last. I can't complain.
Along the way it suffered several mishaps.
When it was fairly new, while parked in a lot at work, it with 8 other cars were severely damaged by a freak accident by a truck and fire hydrant. $15,000 damage to my car alone.
In later years I got rear-ended twice, hit on the side by a car coming out of a parking space, and smashed on the other side while parked at a BART parking lot.
Insurance totaled the car twice from the later accidents. Both times, I kept the car and took cash. Salvage title was required. Eventually I carried only liability insurance. They were going to give me much if it got damaged again.
Then finally, the air conditioner touch screen took on a life of its own. AC would start and stop every few seconds, and it was not economical to fix.
So I traded it in on a 2016 LS460 with 35K miles. I hope that they still make them as well as the older model.
